So Much Ice!

Weather has been pretty wild this week, making everything more complicated. With the combination of snow, rain, and sustained cold we have a lasagna-type situation happening here on the farm. Vehicles don't want to start and are getting stuck constantly, there are slipping hazards left and right, and even the cooler and greenhouse doors keep freezing shut.

10 to 15 years ago the winters were still consistently cold and snowy, and managing snow and ice was a major concern on the farm. But in the last 5 to 10 years there's been a noticeable shift, snow has become mostly negligible, and when it does fall heavily it usually doesn't stick around for long. But this winter is an icy blast from the past! Fun for my kids to play in, and "fun" for me in a problem-solving way (but not actually fun).
